Lemon-Mohler Named Centauri's 2016 Agency of the Year
Scott Lemon Accepts Well-Deserved Honor for Outstanding Agency Partnership
Centauri Insurance recognized Scott Lemon of Lemon-Mohler Insurance Agency of Ocean Springs, Mississippi as our 2016 Agency of the Year. He was presented with this prestigious and well-earned achievement under the stars at our Agency Incentive Trip Recognition Dinner on the Big Island of Hawaii this past summer.
Lemon, a native of Ocean Springs and 1982 graduate of Ocean Springs High School, went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University. From there, he began his professional life in textile manufacturing, but quickly felt the pull of family and returned to Ocean Springs to step into the shoes of his father, Brad, and run the family insurance business founded by his grandfather, J.K., in 1947. The agency now has four locations; three along the Mississippi coast and one in Fairhope, Alabama. He successfully co-manages the agencies with his current partner, Mark Mohler.
Lemon is involved in numerous community organizations and activities across the coast, including the YMCA, Young Life, the Women's Resource Center, Home of Grace, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he and his wife teach Middle School Sunday School. He was most recently honored by the Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA as the recipient of the 2017 John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award given annually to individuals for their selfless dedication to the community.
Lemon is a member of the IIAM and has held several positions in the Association such as Vice President, President Elect, and President. He is also very active in the Young Agents recruiting and development programs. His Alma mater, Mississippi State University, recently inducted him into their Insurance Hall of Fame.
Lemon has teamed up with Centauri numerous times during our partnership for races and event to support various causes. The Lemon-Mohler Insurance Agency has achieved agency awards with Centauri for four consecutive years (since the inception of our awards program) as a Chairman's or Voyagers level award recipient.
"I’m often reminded of the beginning of the Centauri – Lemon Mohler partnership when approached several years ago by the two infamous unknowns Mike Ely and John Meyers at an IIAM meeting in Jackson," said Lemon. "They shared with me this vision for a homeowners carrier from Sarasota soon to be writing business in Mississippi. Shortly thereafter, we met with Rick Espino and Felicia Cox at Mary Mahoney’s in Biloxi to further the relationship."
"Since the early beginnings of the Lemon-Mohler Agency, we found great pride and success in our partnerships with companies that have a shared mutually beneficial vision based on common core values and principles," said Lemon. "We have clearly found this with the Centauri partnership."
Lemon added that the results of this partnership and shared values are proven by the relationships developed at Centauri's Gulf States Agent Advisory Council meetings where agents join the leadership teams of Centauri and Seibels to tackle important initiatives. Lemon has served as a trusted member of this council since it began in 2014. It was at these meetings that Lemon formed a friendship with another agency owner and council member, Brad Bourg, of Bourg Insurance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During the catastrophic flooding in Baton Rouge in 2016, the team at Lemon-Mohler Insurance Agency loaded up a truck full of humanitarian supplies and drove it to Bourg's agency. It's selfless acts of kindness like this and a common mission which make Lemon an outstanding partner for Centauri.
"The common vision to remain relevant, nimble, strategic, intentional all with trust and transparency contribute the success shared by all," said Lemon. "Mike Ely is highly respected and regarded at Lemon-Mohler for his commitment to help, teach, and research our team and guide us to success."
"This partnership spans from John Eric Buffamoyer’s top-notch Underwriting Team, to Brock Howard's Claims Team, through the Product Development and Actuary Teams to the Executive Leadership team.," he added. "Rick, Lora and Felicia have put this vision into action to bring continued success to us all."
Lemon and his wife of 29 years, Barbara, are the parents of three daughters and will soon welcome their second and third grandchildren.
Congratulations to Centauri's 2016 Agent of the Year - Mr. Scott Lemon! Thank you for your outstanding partnership and for all that you do!
