Culture Club
At Centauri Insurance, we believe the culture of our company is the backbone of our business. It’s our mission to successfully attract talented employees and retain the existing talent we’ve built. One way we do this is through our Culture Club which allows collaboration throughout all departments and levels within our company. We have an enthusiastic team of 11 employees (in office and remote) that play a key role in planning office activities, volunteer opportunities and employee outings to create a positive workplace. In return, employees take pride in the place they work and are invested in the success of Centauri.
Throughout the year, each employee is given 8 hours of volunteer time to support their favorite charities in their local community. In addition, the Culture Club takes suggestions and narrows down the charities most important to the staff. Employees are encouraged to participate in year-round events where they can donate their time and efforts to make a difference. Here are some great causes and fun activities we’ve contributed toward recently.
Adopt-A-Road
This program allows our organization to support the countywide anti-litter campaign. Quarterly, the employees that volunteer are given gloves, a trash bag, and a grabber as they set out to pick up trash on the streets of Sarasota County. It’s satisfying to see the contribution we’ve made on our beautiful streets.
OneBlood
Our employees understand the profound and immediate impact blood donations have on our community. To donate blood is to have the power to save someone’s life. Our heroes donate on a quarterly basis when the Big Red Bus visits our parking lot.
Flags for Fallen Vets
In preparation for Memorial Day, Centauri volunteers placed flags on the gravesites at the Sarasota National Cemetery to honor our fallen veterans. Employees read the name, rank, and year of life for each veteran and thanked them for their service. Most invited their families to join in on the experience.
Mote Marine Animal Adoption
Just when our team couldn’t get any better, we adopted several animals from Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. Our list includes a squid, sea turtle, shark, seahorse, manatee, and an otter. They have a very special place in our building, and as you can see, are super fun to have around. We look forward to our quarterly adoptions.
Juneteenth
Centauri hosted a grand celebration of Juneteenth with a phenomenal guest speaker (Darryl Ross), new company t-shirts that embrace our culture, autographed books of “Be the Light!”, a craft lunch and learn where we made wreaths and ate Mission BBQ, and numerous balloon decorations throughout the office. For us, it was about commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
