Centauri Makes Time for Teambuilding While Keeping Pace
At Centauri Insurance, we strive to work and play hard together as one team. During the past several months, our team faced numerous challenges and changes as we moved into our new building amidst a devastating hurricane season. These challenges and changes tested the strength of our team and highlighted the importance of working together for one common mission and operating as a community with shared values.
Building a strong, healthy and united team is accomplished in a number of ways and serves as the foundation of everything that we do. Providing opportunities for our team to bond with co-workers and partners outside of the workplace gives everyone the chance to get to know each other on a more personal level, something that can’t always be accomplished during the daily grind. The ability of our employees and partners to effectively communicate, collaborate and work together as a team ultimately results in the achievement of shared goals and the overall success of our company.
From outings to races to holiday festivities, here are just a few ways we have been strengthening Team Centauri during the past several months:
Team Centauri participated in two special races this summer. First up was The Claw trail run at Alafia State Park on May 7 followed by the 3rd Annual SUP & RUN 5K which took place on May 20 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. Participants chose to run, paddleboard or do a combination of the two. This race is very close to Centauri's heart since the race's director and founder is our very own Felicia Cox, VP of Sales & Agency Relations. The race helps benefit Operation Second Chance, a group of patriotic citizens committed to serving our wounded, injured and ill combat veterans.
During the month of June, convention season was in full swing. Our Centauri Regional Sales Managers met with agents throughout the Gulf States at the Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Texas conventions.
The Independent Insurance Agents of Mississippi and the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Louisiana teamed up once again to sponsor the joint Young Agents Conference from August 17-19 at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. These meetings provide the opportunity for young agents from around the states to get together and exchange ideas, visit with company representatives, and learn about current trends in the insurance industry. Centauri representatives had the opportunity to join Louisiana and Mississippi Young Agents & Brokers in a time of networking, information-sharing, and fellowship. In addition to visiting with young agents at social events, the highlight of the conference allowed Centauri the opportunity to engage in a roundtable discussion of various industry and agency issues facing Young Agents in the states of Louisiana and Mississippi.
In July and August, Centauri hosted our Chairman's and Voyagers Level Qualifiers and Partners on our annual Agency Incentive Trip at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawaii! Guests enjoyed everything from a traditional luau to helicopter rides and rainfall hikes while taking in the sights, sounds and tastes of traditional Hawaiian culture.
Our Annual Teambuilding Week was held in August and met with some disruption as Hurricane Harvey barrelled down on the state of Texas. After a full day of meetings, our executive team members challenged themselves at Escape Room Sarasota. The following day, our employees attended an all-company meeting and learned more about each other as we participated in fun teambuilding exercises hosted by Jack Wolf. That evening employees were treated to a special show at the South Florida Museum's Planetarium, a museum tour and dinner alongside the manatee tank. The next day, our company beach picnic took a backseat as our executive and catastrophe team members shifted 100% focus to Hurricane Harvey as it made landfall in Texas. Centauri donated $5,000 to the American Red Cross to assist in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Labor Day Weekend marked a huge milestone for our Centauri family as we moved into our brand new headquarters in Lakewood Ranch. Just before the big move, our employees participated in one last happy hour at our old office while auctioning off old Centauri branded items and unneeded office supplies. As a result of this auction, member of Team Centauri raised more than $400 for the Sarasota County Humane Society.
Just after moving into our new building, Hurricane Irma made its trek through our home state in Florida. Our new corporate headquarters was used as a hurricane shelter for many Centauri families who felt insecure remaining in their homes given Irma's uncertain path. Shortly after the storm passed, members of Team Centauri traveled to the insurance villages set up in Naples and Fort Meyers to help our policyholders in need.
Centauri hosted our Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, Open House and Agent Advisory Council meetings Oct. 23-24. Our AAC members and business partners joined us in Sarasota for a tour of our new building, company updates, official ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception.
The ladies of Centauri surprised our bride-to-be and sales and agency relations assistant, Alexis Brodil, with a bridal shower on Oct. 29. The lady of the hour was treated to a Mexican potluck lunch, cupcakes, and some extra cash for her upcoming honeymoon to Spain. Best of luck to the future Mrs. Cunningham and her groom on their upcoming big day!
Members of Team Centauri attended the Sarasota Herald-Tribune's Best Workplace Awards luncheon Nov. 2 at The Francis in Sarasota taking home the prestigious #2 spot.
Our employees recently enjoyed our annual Halloween festivities with our Gross Foods Potluck and Costume Contest. Our Dolphin Trainer, Marty McFly from Back to the Future, and a victim from The Birds took home the day's top prizes. Employees dined on ghoulish delights such as Graveyard Dip, Deviled Eyeball Eggs and Bloody Meatballs during our spooktacular lunch.
Centauri Insurance was a proud Silver Sponsor of the 25th Annual Snooty's Gala "Elements" at the South Florida Museum in Bradenton, Florida on Nov. 4.
At the end of the day, Team Centauri understands that the success of our company is dependent on building a strong team and a great culture. Our team and our culture are only great because of the greatness of the people within it and their commitment to our values and vision.
