Summer of Teambuilding Key to Stronger Workforce & Stronger Partnerships

The Summer of 2016 has been a busy one at Centauri Insurance both in and out of the office as we strive to work and play hard together as one team. Building a strong, healthy and united team is accomplished in a number of ways and serves as the foundation of everything that we do.

Providing opportunities for our team to bond with co-workers and partners outside of the workplace gives everyone the chance to get to know each other on a more personal level, something that can’t always be accomplished during the daily grind. The ability of our employees and partners to effectively communicate, collaborate and work together as a team ultimately results in the achievement of shared goals and the overall success of our company.

From outings to races to volunteering, here are just a few ways we have been strengthening Team Centauri during the Summer of 2016:

On May 1st, Team Centauri members and their families participated in The Claw 5M & TM Trail Run at Alafia River State Park just north of Sarasota. This is not your average trail run. Our runners were challenged on a course with waist-high stream crossings, hills and off-trail running.

On May 21st, 23 members represented Team Centauri at the 2nd Annual SUP & RUN 5K at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota. Participants chose to run, paddleboard or do a combination of the two. This race is very close to Centauri's heart since the race's organizer and founder is our very own Felicia Cox who serves as our VP of Sales & Agency Relations. The race helps benefit Operation Second Chance, a group of patriotic citizens committed to serving our wounded, injured and ill combat veterans.

Throughout the months of May, June & July, members of Team Centauri joined forces with some neighbors at Tandem Construction and Fawley-Bryant Architects in our first-ever corporate softball team "The Energy Court All-Stars". The season started off slow with more losses than wins, but ended with a bang as our team took it all the way to the Championship game losing by just one run in the last inning.

Convention season had our sales team busy throughout the month of June as they met with agents in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas and Louisiana.

And if all that running wasn't enough, members of our leadership team joined some of our partners in New York for the Lake Placid Marathon and Half in June. Money raised from this race went to benefit The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota and Camp Oz.

Centauri hosted our Annual Agency Incentive Trip in breathtaking Lake Tahoe in July where the hard work and dedication of our partners and qualifying agents were celebrated. Read more about the trip in our article on the 2016 Agency Incentive Trip Lake Tahoe Wrap-Up.

In August, all of our employees met in Sarasota for our Annual Employee Teambuilding Week. This is an opportunity for all of our employees who work at our corporate office to work alongside our remote employees and get to know each other a little better and become a stronger team. We kicked off the week with a Summer Block Party on Tuesday, August 11 with our neighbors in Energy Court. Everyone enjoyed a catered lunch and Hawaiian shaved ice from the Hukalai Hut food truck, washers and cornhole. A couple hours later, we met with partners for an informal toast to celebrate the closing of the land for our new building on the land where it will sit. The next day, we met for our Annual Company-Wide Meeting and luncheon followed by a trip to Tampa for some team bowling at Splitsville and dinner at the historic Columbia restaurant in Ybor City. We wrapped up the week with a day of fun in the sun at our Annual Company Picnic on Bradenton Beach. Our "rookie" employees (those hired within the past year) took to the stage in our Annual Rookie Talent Show displaying their comedic and musical talents in front of our panel of esteemed judges. Our competition then took to the beach for the Centauri Olympics where teams fought it out in challenges such as the Scuba Steve Relay Race and the Cheese Puff Challenge. In the end, a good time was had by resulting in a united and powerful Team Centauri.

Our very own President and CEO, Rick Espino, made his film debut at the Sarasota Economic Development Council's Annual Meeting in September. He was chosen among the area's top CEOs and business owners to speak about the benefits and challenges of businesses in the Sarasota County area.

In September, members of our leadership and sales teams met with our AAC members in Mobile, Alabama to enhance the agent and customer experience.

At the end of the day, Team Centauri understands that the success of our company is dependent on building a strong team and a great culture. Our team and our culture are only great because of the greatness of the people within it and their commitment to our values and vision.
